Ethan Hays, President of the Napoleon High School GIDAS club, has been awarded the prestigious bronze level President’s Volunteer Service Award for his service contributions to the field of neurodegenerative diseases. GIDAS, the high school/college branch of miRcore, is a network of school clubs dedicated to connecting the general public with researchers and scientists working on groundbreaking research.
Ethan's dedication is evident in his work on Spinocerebellar Ataxia, an inherited disease characterized by loss of voluntary muscle coordination. Through his involvement in miRcore, Ethan engaged in research and advocacy efforts to raise awareness and support for individuals affected by neurodegenerative diseases, including Spinocerebellar Ataxia.
In addition to his research efforts, Ethan helped to raise funds to support the research of Sami J. Barmada, a renowned scientist working on ALS and Frontotemporal Dementia. His fundraising helped to advance critical research that may lead to new treatments and potential cures for these devastating diseases.
The President’s Volunteer Service Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to their community through volunteer service. Led by AmeriCorps and managed in partnership with Points of Light, this program allows certifying organizations to recognize their most exceptional volunteers.
CONGRATULATIONS ETHAN!!
