At the Board of Education meeting Monday, June 26th, 2023, Superintendent Jim Graham officially announced that Mr. Tom Johns will move into the principal role at the NCS Alternative Education Virtual program currently Ackerson High School. In addition, Mr. Johns will continue in his position as NCS Athletic Director.
As a highly regarded part of the NCS Administration team, Mr. Johns has cultivated strong relationships with students, parents, and staff members alike. Superintendent Graham stated, “Tom Johns has been an asset in each of his roles here at NCS. I’m confident our virtual program is in good hands.”
NCS is fortunate to have dedicated, talented staff. As interview processes for the Middle School Principal position start, we remain committed to putting our students first, working to support their success. Stay tuned for updates on the exciting changes coming to Pirate Country for the 23/24 school year!

Free Summer Meals 2023
Spanish students recently worked on pinturas en corteza de amate, a traditional art done on tree bark from south-central Mexico. These paintings typically show the traditions of a community. After viewing several authentic bark paintings, students made a rough draft and painted it on "amate bark."

The Jackson County Health Department is hosting a Health Expo on Saturday, June 10th from 10 am to 2 pm at the American 1 Event Center. Info & resources on the benefits of proper nutrition and physical activity. In addition, families will have a chance to engage with local businesses/organizations that offer summer programming for children.

We are getting ready for Decision Day (May 12 - More info to come later), we would like you to send us a high quality senior picture of your student with their name and where they will be attending (college/trade school), or if they will be going into the workforce, or into the military (specify the Branch)! Students can even say undecided if they wish, but we will put this on their poster.
*If you do not have a senior portrait, you can send your student to the Student Services Office and we can get their picture taken down here. If a student does not send a picture or have one taken they will not have a poster printed!
Please have your pictures sent NO LATER than April 21, 2023.

College & Career Access Center UPDATE:
The CCAC offers incentives to students who complete college/career related tasks. We do this to try and encourage students to complete these tasks and to reward/bring awareness to college/career planning.
Attached are two photos. One is of the 5 students who won our Complete2Compete incentive program for FAFSA completion. The other picture is of our student of the month selection.
Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Southgate High School the JACC JROTC Golden Knight Battalion participated in a 16 Team Cadet Challenge (Fitness Competition) attended by 7 schools and 100+ Cadet Students. Pirate Olivia Hunt place in the top of the female division.
The competition was highly competitive and the JACC JROTC Cadets placed well in team competition and individual events.
The Jackson Area Career Center Team with 16 team members (including 7 new members) placed 4th out of 16 teams & the JACC Junior Varsity Team placed 2nd!
Areas of Competition:
Events: One Mile Run, Curl Ups, Shuttle Run, Pull Ups, V-Sit Reach, and Flex-Arm
Overall Accomplishment: Team Captains: Olivia Hunt (Napoleon), Ava Steller (Addison).
Noted Results:
Junior Varsity placed 2nd out of JV Teams
Varsity placed 4th / 16 Teams
Olivia Hunt: Placed top 5 out of all female Cadets & Best curl ups; female (64)

Callaghan's Coffee will be on the Pirate Campus on April 21, 2023 from 6:30am - 8:45am. All proceeds go to Napoleon Community Schools.

Two of our seniors received Student Leader of the month from the Jackson Breakfast Rotary Club. Joey Hamlin, nominated by Mr. Shell for the month of February and Keegan Schoendorf, nominated by Ms. Hollow, for the month of April. They both attended the rotary club meeting with their families. They were presented their awards and had the opportunity to share with the club their plans for after high school and a little about themselves. Congratulations to both of these hardworking students.
