Napoleon Middle School Spanish Class Explores Mexican Art
Pinturas en corteza de amate are a traditional art project from Mexico.
The “paper” is bark from a tree native to Mexico.  These paintings usually depict traditional daily life in Mexico and feature scenes from planting season, harvest season, weddings, or festivals from small towns.  They can also show animals and plants. The paintings are made with bright colors and are usually stacked to show different scenes from a theme.
Our Pirates did an excellent job creating their own pinturas!
